Festivities are beginning at 1 p.m. See the magic of Rick Rossini and Splash’N Boots, presented by Square One Shopping Centre. Global TV’s Antony Robart and emcee Mike Bullard will take part in the main stage portion of the event, featuring performances include country star Marshall Dane and Eva Avila, and Canadian music icon Gord Downie and the Country of Miracles. The evening ends with a spectacular fireworks show sponsored by Metro. Ride FREE on Canada Day! Mississauga Transit is free from 7 a.m. to midnight on July 1, 2010. Holiday Service. Canada Day was established in 1879 under the name Dominion Day and became Canada Day in 1982. This day encourages Canadians to celebrate their country and to display their patriotic pride.
